Last Thursday evening’s Information Night
We had a successful event on Thursday evening. Not quite as crowded as last year – the fact that both the Giants and the 49er’s were playing probably didn’t help, - but those in attendance (about 40 parents) had a very favorable response. Kelly, Michael, Michele, and Chris Peterson did an excellent job of presenting our 6th grade and elective programs, and four students gave fantastic testimonials of their experiences at AoA. The really neat thing is that the content of the student presentations echoed what we are focusing on as a staff both academically and behaviorally. I’ll keep you in the loop regarding enrollment. We are shooting for 170 students per grade level next year and our hope is that we will have a lottery on 3/7.
Monday
New Enrichment Wheel Rotation – Monday, 10/22 during 4th period
Remember (refer to Kanitha’s emails) that students will be attending their “old” enrichment classes for the 1st 3 minutes of class. We will make an announcement to release student to their new classes.
Wednesday
Staff Meeting – Wednesday, 10/24 from 2:15 to 3:30 pm (Room 222)
You will have the opportunity to work in departments for at least 45 minutes. You can decide if you want to do some vertical articulation work or break up into grade level/ same subject teams. 6th grade Core – let’s focus on math and English this time and we’ll work on science and history for the next opportunity
Thursday
Volleyball Game – Thursday, 10/25 beginning at 4:00 at Wood (against Wood)
Chaperones are Sampson, Jimenez, and Peterson
Friday
Start of School Tours – Friday, 10/26 from 9:00 to 10:15 am
We will begin our weekly parent tours on Friday. We haven’t determined the tour route yet but will communicate it to those teachers whose rooms will be visited. We’ll always check in just beforehand to make sure that it is an appropriate time for parents/students to visit.
