Miscellaneous
Two Students Recommended for Expulsion
Two students who were responsible for throwing a lit firecracker in the hallway next to the gym are being referred for expulsion. I'll fill you in during Wednesday's staff meeting.
Uniform Policy and Tardies
"Education Week" is over. It's time to tighten up on the uniform policy. Please review the uniform policy on our website and give referrals to any student who is out of compliance. If you have questions, please contact Annalisa, Nora, or me. You should have the new referrals which, are triplicates. After writing the referral, you can give one of the copies to the student. If possible, give the referral to the front office as soon as possible so that we can call the student down. This is going to be challenging for a while but it will get easier in a couple of weeks if we are all tight. Also, please mark  tardy any student who is late to class and remind them that 10 tardies in a trimester will result in a one-hour detention for each subsequent tardy.
AOA Leadership Team
If you are interested in being on the AoA Leadership Team, please let me know by Wednesday. We have had over 11 people let me know that they are interested. I will interview the seven candidates that I select based on the grade level/s that they teach, level of teaching experience, among other factors. In the future, I will ask that departments have a democratic vote and forward their candidate to be interviewed. It is really great that we have so many qualified candidates. Just a reminder of what a strong staff that we have.
Constant Contact
We have a new email service that will be used to communicate out to our families besides the notices that they receive from School Loop. Please subscribe (box is on the upper left side of our website) as the information is pertinent to you even though it targets our students' families. When you sign up, check off all 3 of the boxes (6th through 8th grade).
Pure Reading Class
We were told that the grade level pure reading readers would be available first thing in the morning. We'll deliver them to those of you teaching pure reading. Remember that Wednesday and Friday are advisories.
